Final year of the research: July 2008-Dec 2009

In the final year of the research efforts were concentrated on finalizing the time series of field measurements of carbon stock changes in the different project sites, and in publishing findings widely (see Resources and Publications). The project lobbied effectively within the international community of scientists and climate negotiators working on REDD and REDD+ to bring community forest management, and in particular, the capacity of communities to measure and monitor the changes in carbon stock in their forests, more strongly into UNFCCC and SBSTA draft policy texts.

Two PhD thesis were completed in this period (for Nepal and Tanzania, see Resources and Publications).
